Our Name

The name Haus Fembre simply translates to House Fembre and derives from the old name of the island Fehmarn. In the early 11th century - in 1076 - the church historian Adam von Bremen mentions the island and calls it Fembre. He describes the island as a rich farming region full of pirates that call themselves Christians.

In order to honor the distinguished history of Fehmarn, we decided to use the ancient name Fembre.
